This week is a genuine 80 Series Land Cruiser week here at Stellar Built.
We’ve got three very different Land Cruisers in the shop right now, each one showing a different side of what these trucks need after 30-plus years on the road.
White 80 Series: Full Electrical Overhaul
This white FJ80, already running an ARB bumper, came in for a complete electrical overhaul. We’re installing a dual battery setup with an IBS monitor system to keep both batteries properly managed, and wiring in a SPOD Bantam X touchscreen with dual screens so the owner can control interior features right from the rear interface. Alongside the electrical work, we’re building out a Goose Gear drawer system with a pull-out Cook Partner propane stove, turning this 80 into a proper basecamp on wheels.
Green 80 Series: Front Knuckle Overhaul and a Cracked Panhard Bracket
The green 80 hadn’t been serviced in a while.
The front knuckles were absolutely cooked with grease and leaking differential fluid, so we’re doing a complete front knuckle overhaul.
While we were in there, we also caught a crack in the panhard bracket. This is really the importance of coming into the shop on a regular basis for inspections and general work. We can spot this stuff and get it fixed. We’re building a reinforcement mount to keep that bracket in place for good.
Two-Tone Collector Edition 80 Series: 5.29 Regear
This was a super clean two-tone Collector Edition 80 Series running 38″ tires.
We installed a set of 5.29 front and rear regear, and now this 80 cruises up and down the highway without a problem. If you’re looking for an off-road shop that can tackle your 80 Series project, we’re arguably the best option in Sacramento and Northern California. We have personally owned many different 80s over the years. It’s one of our favorite Toyota platforms.
