2021 Land Cruiser Heritage Edition Build: 74W Portals, King Shocks, E-Lockers and More
This 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition came into Stellar Built for a full 74Weld portal build.
Matte black on machined wheels, King shocks… all on a Heritage Edition! Such an impressive build.
In addition to some of those standout mods, we also installed a supercharger for more power, Eaton E-Lockers front and rear for technical wheeling, and a long range fuel tank to stretch the distance on longer overland runs. This is the type of build that brings customers to Stellar Built from all over Northern California… South Lake Tahoe, Redding, Roseville, Auburn, Lincoln, Loomis, Vacaville, Fairfield, and the Bay Area.
When you’re looking for a build at this level, you want a shop with experience. We’ve been installing Portal Axles for over three years now. We actually worked directly with 74W to install the first set of production portals in order to dial in the step-by-step installation manual.
In addition to the portal experience, our background is actually in Land Cruisers. From the 60s, 80s, 100s, 200s, and even the new 250 Land Cruiser, we’ve worked on built hundreds of Land Cruisers from the ground up.
Whether you’re looking for portal axles, a standard lift kit, or a custom one-off build, Stellar Built is the go-to shop in Northern California.

74Weld Portal Axles

The center of this build is obviously the 74Weld 200 series portal axles, giving this LC200 4″ of ground clearance and added drivetrain strength for technical trails out here in NorCal.
In addition to the boxes, we welded in Total Chaos cam tab gussets and installed new UCAs and outer tie rods to make sure the front end had even more support for the added leverage that comes with running portals.
Suspension

Stacked with Kings, this Land Cruiser gets improved compression and rebound performance with full compression adjustment to match the extra unsprung weight and geometry changes that come with running portals, keeping the ride composed both on the trail and on the highway.
Wheels and Tires

Wheels are forged 74W207s in a 17×8 size, 6×5.5 bolt pattern with a +45 offset to hug the portal housings, wrapped in Toyo Open Country AT3 tires sized 35×12.5R17LT for a stable stance on and off-road.
Armor and Recovery

We installed rock sliders and skid plates to protect the underside on technical terrain, along with an SDHQ hidden winch mount and Factor 55 HawSe fairlead up front, giving this Land Cruiser the full off-road spec without cluttering the factory front end. Just a clean, well-rounded sleeper… if you will.
Supercharger and Drivetrain

On the performance side, we added a supercharger to give the Land Cruiser’s already impressive V8 more power for towing, highway miles, and climbing steep grades without hesitation. We also handled some odds and ends, including a passenger-side CV axle install for some regular maintenance.
E-Locker Install

For traction, we installed Eaton E-Lockers front and rear: an Eaton 9″ IFS locker up front and a matching Eaton rear locker. We really like this build specifically because we retrofitted an OEM locker switch into a non-locked vehicle… making it look and feel 100% OEM. Just the small little details, ya know.
Lockers like these turn the Land Cruiser’s independent front suspension into a machine. Once the lockers go on, the LC200 goes anywhere. It’s just a beast with locked diffs.
Long Range Fuel

We installed a Long Range America fuel tank, giving Amando more distance between gas stations when he’s out wheeling from trail to trail.
Alignment and Fit

As always, we recommend alignment after suspension work, and a suspension and wheel retorque at the 500-mile mark after any lift install, and Stellar Built includes a retorque service with every kit we install.
